We all have special moments in our lives that we will never forget. Today I am going to take a moment to go down in memory lane. Hope you can join me. In my opinion, the place you grew up in has a great impact in your life. Haiti has been on my mind. I spent ten years of my life in Haiti. I am excited to share with you what I remember about growing up in Haiti.
The first person is my sweet old grandmother. She was amazing. Always waking up early to make coffee and to sweep the backyard while sprinkling water. Coffee and bread was always the to go breakfast. One thing I can never forget is that when it was bed time if I did not wash my feet. She would always have a basin of water and a towel to wash my feet as I sleep. Quite often when I think about what she did, it always brings me joy.
I also remember jumping rope with my neighborhood friends. We would do this at times and throwing our shoes off. This was the most exciting time for me.
Let’s talk about when it rained. It was like water was coming from heaven and bringing kids together. I remembered bathing in the rain water and laughter filled the air. The joy of being young and free.
Let’s not forget summer when all the cousins from the countryside visited. We would stay up for hours exchanging stories. I learned so much from my cousins. Such as, riddles, songs and games. Hope your childhood was awesome as mine. Please do share in the comment about the things you loved doing when you were a child.
Mine was great and more adventurous too
